Mount Barker is located approximately 350 kms (4 hour drive) south of Perth and is the central hub of the Great Southern region. Mount Barker is your ideal base to explore the Porongurup Range, Stirling Range, Albany, Denmark, and everything in between. Here you will find many attractions both man-made and natural - sample the locally produced wines from the region's 100+ wineries, climb Bluff Knoll or take the tourist drive through the heart of the Stirling Ranges, or, delight in the Karri forest in the Porongurup Range. WILDFLOWER SEASON 2013
The orchids are now flowering so if you're interested in seeing some of the huge varieties of orchids available then head on down to Mount Barker. Most of the orchids can be found on the bush sites around town, no need to drive a long way to photograph the flowers.
