The first successful plantings in Mount Barker were made in 1967 by the Department of Agriculture. At present, new plantings are being made at a tremendous rate. Our climate has proven ideal, with many wines consistently winning State and National awards.The region of The Great Southern, of which Mount Barker is a part, has become the largest wine producing area in Australia. Recent international interest in our wines has been overwhelming and ensures the further growth of the industry.
